Post-doctoral position in theoretical and computational chemistry: Department of Chemistry, Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana.

One post-doctoral position in theoretical and computational chemistry is available, in the group of Prof. Srinivasan S. Iyengar at the department of chemistry, Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana. The opportunity is at the interface of condensed phase quantum dynamics, quantum information and quantum simulation. The prospective candidate may have a strong background in quantum dynamics, electronic structure, computational methods, and will have the opportunity to learn about quantum information, quantum computing, quantum simulation, ion-lattice quantum simulators and will assist in the development of new quantum algorithms. Applicants must possess a strong background in theoretical method development. Those with a proven, published, record in quantum dynamics methods and/or electronic structure methods, mathematical methods and good computer programming skills, will be in an advantageous position with respect to this position.

The candidate will have the opportunity to actively collaborate with experimental physics groups that develop ion-lattice simulators, computer science groups that deal with logic, semantics and compilers, and inorganic chemists dealing with the coupled behavior of electrons and nuclei.

Indiana University has a new “quantum science and engineering center” (IU-QSEc) with people from chemistry, physics, computer science, engineering and the business school. This center will allow the post-doctoral associate to have opportunities for career development in this important new area of great national interest. This job is in the new field of quantum information science.
